The video shows astronaut Eytan Stibbe on the ISS during @AxiomSpace's AX1 mission (April 2022), performing our Fluidic Space Optics experiment as part of the #RAKIA mission. In this part of the experiment, Eytan injected water onto a large frame, and demonstrated that in space the surface tension of liquids can be used to create optical components at any scale. This experiment is part of the FLUTE project - a collaboration between The Fluidic Technologies Laboratory at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at @Technion and a team led by Dr. Edward Balaban at @NASAAmes. Read more about the FLUTE project at https://www.nasa.gov/ames/flute/ The experiment was conducted as part of the Rakia Mission, led by the Ramon Foundation, and was funded by Bercovici Fluidic Technologies Laboratory at Technion, the Israeli Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, NASA Ames Center Innovation Fund, and the ISS National Laboratory.
