Basement Excavation Continues | Equipment Failure, Rain, and a Costly Mistake

In this video, I keep pushing forward with the basement excavation for our forever home right up until things take an unexpected turn. A hydraulic line breaks on the excavator, forcing me to shut everything down just before we get hit with several inches of rain. That rain turns the loose dirt and Missouri clay into a complete mess, creating problems I have to deal with before I can even think about moving forward again. As if that wasn’t enough, I also realize I made a mistake in how deep I needed to dig, which brings everything to a stop and sends me back to the plans. This build isn’t pretty, and it definitely isn’t perfect, but it’s real. Mistakes, setbacks, and lessons learned are all part of doing this ourselves from the ground up.
