MONTESSORI MODEL UNITED NATIONS (MMUN) CONFERENCE AT UN ESCAP BANGKOK THAILAND ON 13TH DECEMBER 2025 The closing session of Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) was held at Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) headquartered in Bangkok Thailand on 13th December 2025. The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is a regional commission of the United Nations, which works with 53 member states and 9 associate members, making it the largest regional body of the United Nations. Its core mandate is to promote inclusive, sustainable, and resilient development across the Asia-Pacific region. I attended the closing ceremony of MMUN — Montessori Model United Nations at the ESCAP Conference Hall. MMUN is a global platform where Montessori schools from around the world come together under one roof to discuss pressing international issues, exchange ideas, and promote dialogue on global challenges. Before entering the ESCAP Conference Hall, we had the pleasure of meeting the UNPKFC Young Peace Ambassadors—the youth wing of UNPKFC. It was truly a delight, and I was very happy to meet them. I attended the closing ceremony of MMUN — Montessori Model United Nations at the ESCAP Conference Hall, a truly global forum where Montessori schools from across the world unite to debate pressing international issues, share perspectives, and engage in meaningful dialogue on global challenges. Today, I also had the honor of addressing 300 young MMUN participants from around the world, sharing insights and inspiring the next generation of global leaders. The student delegates of MMUN were very receptive, disciplined and well aware of global issues. As Chairperson of UNPKFC and Founding Director/CEO of IG-SI I told the students to focus on implementing 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to make this world a better place. I explained my role in UN PeaceKeeping Operations and concept of Protection of civilians which is the main mandate of UN Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding I told them that there are two purposes of life. Inner and outer purpose of life. We all pursue outer purpose of life which is happiness, success, prestige, financial stability but ignore the inner or spiritual purpose of life. The inner purpose of life is to alleviate the sufferings of other people We must align our inner purpose of life with our outer purpose of life if we want meaning in our lives. First 6 SDGs relate to people. We must implement them to help and alleviate the suffering of humanity. Dr. Aphinita Chaichana President UNPKFC Director International Affairs IG-SI explained the role of UNPKFC and motivated the young delegates. She also urged MMUN to hold their next conference in Thailand. Ms. Suchata Chuang sri (Opal), Miss World 2025, also spoke at the occasion and explained her journey of life and inspired the young delegates. She told them that she is a cancer survivor; at the age of 16, she underwent surgery for benign breast tumors, inspiring her lifelong advocacy for breast cancer awareness with her campaign "Opal For Her," focusing on early detection and empowering women's health. The student delegates of MMUN were very receptive, disciplined and well aware of global issues. The other distinguished guests who attended the conference were: H.E. Ambassador Francis Lorenzo, Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the UN, who discussed the critical role of diplomacy and cross-border partnerships. Mr. Raphael Forestieri, CEO and Co-Founder of Montessori Model United Nations (MUN), Esin Gülşen a Former Peacekeeper from Turkiye and Maria Delilah a former Peacekeeper from Philippines also attended the conference as part of IG-SI team. Dr. Marnfah a real estate developer and supper model, Papachsorn Meepa Managing Director & owner of Phuket 9 (Woman of the Year 2025) attended the session with us and were part of our team. We had a photo session with participants of the closing session of MMUN In the last part of the conference UNPKFC Young Peace Ambassadors sang two beautiful songs which moved the audience “Concluding the Montessori Model United Nations at the United Nations ESCAP headquarters on 13 December was not just a ceremonial moment — it was a powerful reminder that today’s students are tomorrow’s global leaders, preparing to contribute to peace, development, and the Sustainable Development Goals in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.”
