Simple drum and bass tune using about 1MB of RAM. The arrangement is pretty sparse but I lost interest in developing this any further. Everything made on the S3000 including FX. Recorded directly to standard cassette tape, then transfered to the PC and EQed with TDR Nova EQ. I got this S3000i with just 2MBs of RAM and no expansion cards, even though according to the internet the i-versions should have the SCSI card installed. But it was too cheap to not buy it and when I had it at home I found out that it had the IB-304F second filter / reverb board installed which was a very pleasant surprise. However I really don't understand why anyone would remove the SCSI card and leave the much more expensive IB-304F in. Overall a great sampler with a really good delay effect. I wanna say the IB-304F board is a must just for the highpass filter alone but the prices they go for are completely insane. Still I think without some kind of functionality to remove low frequency content of certain sounds it is extremely difficult to achieve a somewhat decent mix. The reverb (only available with the IB-304F expansion) is kind of a let down compared to the previous S1100, although some settings are at least usable. Transposing samples doesn't sound as clean as on the previous S1000/S1100 models, which can be noticable when using synth sounds with lots of high frequency content. What you get in return are much more pronounced aliasing artefacts when pitching down samples, which is nice if you're into lofi stuff. Overall this thing definitely has to have a place in the hall of fame of legendary AKAI samplers. Btw the S3000 series came out in 1993, not 1996 as claimed by some sources on the internet.
