Education Revolution | Ali Hakem | TEDxBaghdad

Ali talks about the need to change the traditional educational system in Iraq through community initiatives by adopting the creation of a miniature educational model that adopts advanced methods and educational methods that keep pace with the global and future and what is in line with the global orientation of the United Nations (Transforming Education). This is what prompted us to establish the Free School, which is a social educational school that offers exceptional lessons with special curricula that aim to give students behavior and life skills and develop innovation and creativity. The school was founded in a marginalized neighborhood for the poor, and currently more than 60 students from the poor and orphans receive their lessons in our Free School. The school follows different curricula such as cinema-based education, social responsibility, self-learning, entrepreneurship, social media, arts and sports, science, technology and democracy. The talks ends with a message that summarizes that the future of the country is contingent on achieving the “Education Revolution”. Ali is a social activist with a keen interest in the field of education and youth work. He founded the campaign "Our Youth" in 2015 and established the first educational project dedicated to sixth-grade students called "My Journey in Sixth Grade." The project involved traveling from one province to another to organize developmental initiatives and gatherings for students in all provinces of Iraq. In 2020, Ali participated in an Arab Youth Parliament and championed the cause of an educational revolution, earning first place in the Arab world with 19,000 votes. He then initiated an international project called "TENs: Initiators Encouraging Volunteerism and Initiative among Youth," which has reached over 24 countries. In early 2022, Ali launched the concept of a "Free School" and established an educational institution that offers exceptional lessons with unique curricula that differ from traditional schools.
