Abraham’s Faith: Hoping and Believing When One Could Not Hope Today, we looked at the Word from Romans chapter 4, verses 18 through 24. We know that when Abraham was 75 years old, he left his native land, his relatives, and his father’s house, Ur of the Chaldeans, and set out on the road following God’s guidance. One day, God appeared to him and told him to look at the stars in the sky, and promised that He would make his descendants as numerous as those stars. Abraham believed this word of God. Because he hoped and believed even in a situation where he could not possibly hope, he became the father of faith. Because he believed the word God promised without doubting, he obtained a son and was able to form a nation. By Abraham believing the word of God, thanks to that faith, countless people became righteous. In fact, not only the Israelites but also the Palestinians are all Abraham’s descendants.
