Hey Guys If you are a Canon shooter then you may have encountered some problems with the release of Black Magic Design Resolve 17 Beta 8 and the RAW decoder. If you haven't noticed this problem, use this video as a settings guide on how to avoid them in the future. Especially if you are working in front of a fussy client. At the moment I would say the the Canon 8k RAW decoder in DaVinci Resolve 17 Beta 8 is a disaster. There are some major problems that can drastic affects on you final projects if you are not aware. While I understand that BMD is doing their best with this beta version you can clearly see in the video example that their own RAW format BRAW does not behave in the same fashion in the resolve 17. BRAW works perfectly and Canon RAW is plagued with these RAW decoder issues. There is a comparison in the video for you guys to see exactly what I am talking about. Resolve 17 8 is still a beta version. So no harm no foul on Black Magic Design. But these resolve 17 problems are issues that you should be made aware of. As the pass through, black lines, colour shifts, frame size changes, image detail, playback speeds, render times, render qualities, cached media, project archives, optimised media and proxy media can all be affected.
