At Austin Muscle Restoration, our core belief is that everyone must exercise, and that needs to include resistance based training. Our expertise is helping anyone build a healthy muscular system, especially those with low thresholds. That includes: injury, stroke, TBI, paralysis, drop foot, mobility issues, autoimmune, joint pain, etc. After many requests, we’re excited to release our Low Threshold Video Series. This is a series of five videos and will include: 1. Visualization 2. Internal Isometrics 3. External Isometrics 4. Body Weight Exercises 5. External Resistance Exercises We want people to feel empowered to exercise at any stage. The goal is to get started and find what is right for you. This video is the second in the series, and is on internal isometrics. Isometrics are a muscle contraction with little to new movement. Internal isometrics are the act of contracting the muscles without external forces. Benefits of Internal Isometrics: -Improves communication between your brain and your neuromuscular system -Improve strength and force output -Teaches mindfulness and what you should be feeling in the muscle during the exercise Throughout the video, we encourage you to follow along and perform each isometric to the best of your ability. Stephen provides cues and descriptions on what should be contracting, where the sensation is, and what you should be feeling. We recommend holding each isometric for 5 seconds performing the exercise 3 repetitions to start. Once you know how your body tolerates the exercise, you can increase your repetitions. Remember, each person’s range of motion is unique and it may look different for everyone, that is okay! Work within your range of motion and comfort zone. Please stop or limit your range of motion if you experience pain. Please reach out if you have any questions. You can find our contact information on our website, www.austimusclerestoration.com
