Child labour remains a challenge in Cabo Verde. Through Trade for Decent Work, national efforts are being strengthened to eliminate child labour and protect children’s rights. A national child labour survey, conducted by the National Statistics Institute with support from the International Labour Organization Dakar Office, provides updated data to guide action. The survey found that: • 4,900 children (4.2% of those aged 5–17) are engaged in child labour • 2.5% are involved in hazardous work These findings are helping redefine Cabo Verde’s child labour elimination strategy and inform the development of the country’s new National Policy for the Protection of Children and Adolescents, which will include a dedicated action plan to end child labour. Trade for Decent Work continues to support national partners in building sustainable systems that ensure children grow up safe, protected, and able to thrive. #ChildLabour #CaboVerde #DecentWork #SDGs #ChildProtection #TradeForDecentWork
