This popular route is frequented by birdwatchers, hikers, and walkers, so expect company along the way. The best season to visit is October through May. Note: dogs are not permitted. The track is a steady climb to Lake Marian, a beautiful alpine lake set in the Hanging Valley. It’s rough at times, but the reward is worth it. Snow-capped peaks surround the lake, with sunlight and shadows playing across the mountainsides.
