Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary is a beautiful bird sanctuary located in the southern state of Karnataka, India. The sanctuary is located in the Mandya district, approximately 3 kilometers away from the historic town of Srirangapatna and 16 kilometers away from Mysuru. Spread over an area of about 0.67 square kilometers, Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary is home to a diverse range of birds, including both resident and migratory birds. It is situated on the banks of the Kaveri River and comprises of six islets that serve as nesting sites for a variety of bird species. Some of the common bird species that can be spotted at Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary include painted storks, open-billed storks, black-headed ibis, egrets, cormorants, and herons. During the migratory season, the sanctuary is visited by a large number of birds from different parts of the world, including Siberia and Australia. Apart from birdwatching, visitors to the sanctuary can also take a boat ride along the river and admire the scenic beauty of the place. The sanctuary also has a watchtower, which provides a panoramic view of the surrounding area.
