It’s late winter here in Charlotte, Zone 8, and this is the quiet moment when I prune my container fruit trees and roses before spring begins. In this video, I’m pruning my container-grown Gala and Honeycrisp apples, Santa Rosa plum, a multi-variety pear tree, and several roses—including Flavorette honey apricot roses, Earth Angel, and Princess Charlene de Monaco—as they move into their second season. I grow my fruit trees in containers on my deck to protect them from deer and other critters, and I approach pruning slowly and intentionally—cutting back with confidence, trusting that these plants will grow stronger and fuller because of it. This isn’t a rushed how-to. It’s a quiet, late-winter garden ritual— focused on structure, dormancy, and learning how much each plant is ready to carry right now. 🌿 The Soft Seasons is about elevated, edible gardens and seasonal rhythms—rooted in calm, care, and intention. Until next time, thank you for sharing this moment with me in The Soft Seasons. I’m glad you found your way into the garden. #LateWinterPruning #ContainerFruitTrees #RosePruning #Zone8Gardening #CharlotteGardening
