Nabha Mata Temple is situated in the picturesque hills of Jindrah about 50 kms from Jammu and is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Legend has it when Sati ( wife of Shiva, who was reborn as Parvati) gave up her life in Daksha's sacrifice, Shiva is said to have performed the Rudra Tandava to express his grief and anger. To control his anger, Lord Vishnu cut Sati Devi's body with his Sudarshan Chakra into 108 pieces which scattered all over India. It is said Adi Shankaracharya selected 18 among them as Maha Shakti Peethas Nabha Devi temple (One among 51 Shakti Peeth of Mata Sati) is situated in Jammu at a place called Kanyala Village (near Jindrah). Nabha Devi temple is 45 Kms (approx) from Jammu. It is said that Devi's stomach part with navel has fallen here. As Nabhi (navel) has fallen here, the deity is known as Nabha devi (Nabha Mata). The people here believe that whoever comes in this temple does not go back empty-handed. The Nabhi or Navel of Mata Sati's body is said to have fallen in this area. It is believed that devotees do not go empty handed without their wishes getting fulfilled. The temple lies at a distance of 41.5 kms from Mato Vaishnao Devi Temple.
