This time Mrs TT and I are with friends. In July 2022 we sailed aboard MV Hallaig from Sconser on the Isle of Skye to Raasay. The ferry is named after a depopulated township, located on the east coast of Raasay below high cliffs. Comprising about 44 ruined houses the story of Hallaig is a tale told over the Highlands again and again. The village was cleared between 1852-1854 as land was needed for sheep farming. The vessel MV Hallaig was the 1st vessel in the world developed under the Low Emission Hybrid Ferries Project. Diesel electric & lithium ion batteries.
