Our world is changing. We need more social entrepreneurs to lead the way and make a difference. But, is it possible to clone more social innovators, in a systematic way? What is the secret recipe in the process of social innovation? In this talk, Francis will try to break down the social innovation process into four simple steps. By illustrating with real life case studies, Francis hopes to get everyone to learn how to become social innovators in just 15 minutes. Francis Ngai is the founder and CEO of Social Ventures Hong Kong, the first non-profit venture philanthropy organization dedicated to supporting and nurturing social innovation in Hong Kong since 2007. Prior to Social Ventures Hong Kong, Francis was Assistant Vice President and Head of Strategy at PCCW. He is now also a visiting university lecturer, a columnist, a member of various government advisory bodies, and a board member of Asia Venture Philanthropy Network. As a running veteran, he finished the North Pole Marathon in 2013 and completed an ultra-marathon challenge in the Gobi desert in 2012. He obtained a B.A. (Hon) from City University of Hong Kong and has obtained scholarships for non-profit executive programs at INSEAD and at Harvard Business School. He was selected as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Hong Kong 2011 and a Young Global Leader of The World Economic Forum 2012. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
