New Midland Station OPENING!!! - The Full METRONET Vision is Now Complete!*

On Sunday the 22nd of February 2026, the brand-new METRONET Midland Station opened following a one month shutdown of the Midland Line between Bassendean and Midland since the old station was closed on the 21st of January (   • Midland Station Farewell - Last Day of Ope...  ). The new station is located further east and forms part of the Midland town centre, connecting the two sides of the rail corridor, particularly between the shops on the north and the hospital precinct on the south side. It is the 23rd new station completed under the METRONET vision and its opening marks the full completion of the vision that the Labor government first put forward in 2017. In this video we travel on a VIP A-Series service from Guildford to Midland Station (which was the same set of trains which ran the last service to the old station), being part of the first people to arrive to the new Midland Station by train. We then follow through with the official proceedings of the opening before doing a general overview of the new station and its surroundings, as well as spot some Transperth, TransWA and freight trains passing through. Also featured are some clips of C-Series set 131 which was spotted doing testing on the night before opening. This won't be seen again for a very long time as the rest of the platforms on the outer Midland Line are unable to accomodate 6-car trains, although the new C-Series sets built at the Bellevue manufacturing facility just east of the new station will be passing through.
