“Living Water” is a worshipful prayer of thirst, cleansing, and renewal that traces one of Scripture’s most consistent images: God as the true source of life. The song begins with a parched soul coming to the Lord for cleansing and restoration, then expands to the Bible’s pattern of God providing water in the wilderness, washing His people, and ultimately fulfilling the symbol in Jesus—the Living Water. It contrasts God’s flowing, healing supply with the futility of “broken cisterns,” and ends in praise for the Water of Life that continues to run in Christ. Scriptural references and images woven into the song: Thirst and God as the fountain/source: Psalm 42:1–2; Psalm 36:9 “With joy you will draw water” (salvation imagery): Isaiah 12:3 Water from the rock in the wilderness: Exodus 17:1–7 (cf. 1 Corinthians 10:4) Washings/purification imagery (cleansing): Exodus 30:17–21 “Broken cisterns” vs the fountain of living waters: Jeremiah 2:13 Jesus as “Living Water” who satisfies forever: John 4:10–14 Rivers of living water (the Spirit given through Christ): John 7:37–39 Cleansed/washed with the Word: Ephesians 5:26 The Water of Life in the New Creation: Revelation 22:1–2 Living Water [Verse 1] I walk with thirst upon my tongue. You are the spring where life has sprung. Wash me clean and blot my stain. Let living water rise again. [Chorus 1] Living water, make me whole. Flow through the breaks within my soul. You satisfy; You set me free. Your river’s life is Christ in me. [Verse 2] From desert rock, You gave me drink. You met me right on the brink. Your word has washed and made me new. Your Spirit streams come rushing through. [Chorus 2] Draw living water—don’t look back. His river heals what sin would crack. With joy I drink; my thirst is gone. In Christ the spring runs on and on. [Bridge] When shame burns hot, I run to You. Your cleansing wave will see me through. No broken cistern holds this grace. Living waters face to face. [Outro] So let Your river fill my song. Till living water makes me strong. Water of life–flowing free. All praise to Christ, who gives to me.
