The Lost Pins: The Pinball Machine That Died With the Company The Lost Pins – Loch Ness Monster (Game Plan, 1985) The rarest Game Plan pinball machine ever made… because it basically never released. In this episode of The Lost Pins, we dive into one of the true unicorns of pinball history: Loch Ness Monster by Game Plan (November 1985) — a game that was built as a prototype, but never reached production, with only one known machine ever produced. Loch Ness Monster was meant to be Game Plan’s most ambitious title, featuring a standout centerpiece: a moving 3D model of the Loch Ness Monster under the playfield, visible through a blue window in the middle of the playfield. But the timing was brutal. According to Pinball News’ Pinball Expo coverage, the game was developed at Game Plan and the company ran out of money before it could be released — turning what should’ve been a late-era showpiece into a legendary “lost” machine. Design credits commonly listed for the game include Ed Cebula and Joe Kaminkow (design), Rehman Merchant (software), and artwork credited to Kevin O’Connor (K’OC), Margaret Hudson, and Seamus McLaughlin. So what happens when a manufacturer tries to swing big… right before the lights go out? In this episode, we break down: What Loch Ness Monster was supposed to be The “only one prototype” reality and why it matters The monster-under-glass gimmick and what made it so unique How Game Plan’s collapse froze the game in time Why Loch Ness Monster became Game Plan’s most famous what-if Because sometimes “lost” doesn’t mean canceled on paper — it means the company died mid-sentence. 🕹️ Subscribe for more lost, canceled, and unreleased pinball deep dives 🎯 New episodes from CaptNRetro’s Pinball Co. pinball, loch ness monster pinball, game plan pinball, gameplan pinball, lost pinball, unreleased pinball, prototype pinball, rare pinball, cancelled pinball, pinball history, pinball documentary, classic pinball, vintage pinball,1985 pinball, joe kaminkow,ed cebula, kevin oconnor, koc, rehman merchant, pinball collectors, pinball community, the lost pins, captnretro
