The Lost Pins: Inside Gottlieb’s Lost Krull Project The Lost Pins – Krull (Gottlieb, 1983) The sci-fi fantasy pinball machine that vanished before it was born. In this episode of The Lost Pins, we uncover one of the great forgotten casualties of early-80s licensing chaos — Gottlieb’s canceled Krull pinball machine. Based on the 1983 cult fantasy film Krull, Gottlieb secured the license and began development on a full Krull-themed pinball machine. Artwork was commissioned. Design work was underway. The project was real. And then… it was gone. Before a prototype could be completed — and before a single game ever reached the factory floor — the Krull license collapsed, and the project was abruptly canceled. No production run. No test games on location. No surviving cabinets. Just paperwork, artwork, and a giant “what if.” Within the hobby, it’s widely believed that elements of the abandoned Krull design were later reworked and absorbed into other Gottlieb titles, a common survival tactic at the time when licenses fell apart but development costs had already been spent. Krull didn’t just die — it was stripped for parts before it could even live. Today, Krull sits in that rare category of lost pins that were: Fully licensed Actively in development And killed before a single prototype could escape In this episode, we break down: How Gottlieb landed the Krull license What stage the project reached before cancellation Why the license fell apart What may have been repurposed into later games And why Krull became one of Gottlieb’s most mysterious lost projects From monsters to mercenaries to magical glaives… The Lost Pins is all about the games that almost were. Because sometimes, the rarest pinball machine… is the one that never even made it to wood. 🕹️ Subscribe for more lost, canceled, and unreleased pinball deep dives 🎯 New episodes from CaptNRetro’s Pinball Co. pinball, krull pinball, gottlieb pinball, lost pinball, unreleased pinball, cancelled pinball, pinball history, pinball documentary, arcade history, forgotten pinball, pinball collectors, pinball community, pinball youtube, pinball machines, classic pinball, vintage pinball,1983 pinball, scifi pinball, fantasy pinball, the lost pins, captnretro
