There are two ways to read the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu. One is spiritual, the other mundane. Which is better? In fact, both are important. This is reflected in how the book of wisdom is structured. It is divided into two sections. Chapters 1 to 37 are known as Tao Scripture, and Chapters 38 to 81 is Te Ching. Tao is the underlying principle of the universe and Te its manifestation. So even the structure of the book highlights the importance of seeing the book from the two different perspectives.
