Maggie and I put Qweeli onto the airer for a little stretch and play; the little darling had been awake before I started warming the feeds, and was quite active, so we tried her out. By this age she should be going onto the airer, but I didn't want her to be on the airer at the same time as Trixie and Bagel, who were at the time just getting over the trauma of having Apropos being a silent and intimidating presence on the airer, of whom they were both quite wary; Apropos was just being herself, with the confidence of having had a single batmum for her entire life. and secure in that love, but stressed because she was finding herself out of her comfort zone after being kidnapped by the humans. If you think about it, Apropos is a wild baby who speaks the language of the nomadic batties, and of the wild. And our handraised babies are still handraised, humanised (to an extent), and have been raised as multiples. They fail to speak the language of the wild unless they came into care quite late. They don't understand the outdoors, the sounds and critters of the bush, and they don't understand the etiquette of living in a batty community. Effectively, though Apropos is the same age as the others, she's much more mature and experienced in the world my babies will be entering soon. Apropos must think they're a bit stupid. So when I put Qweeli on the airer I didn't want the others there at the same time, lest their newfound confidence after Apropos left, was destroyed. You can see when Bagel was trying to get onto me he was quite persistent, when normally after a feed he goes straight to his teddy for a post feed milk coma before coming out to play. He was not as bad as he was when Apropos was on the airer (when he was panicked and very needy and desperate to be on the security of his humum), but he was also more sookylala (emotionally needy) than he usually is, probably making sure that I wasn't going to inflict little Qweeli on him and Trixiebelle, because I was THEIR mum and nobody else's. And I've added some footage of the babies just before I took them to Auntie Jack, of them enjoying the ti tree blossom and various fruits. Tolga Bat Hospital takes donations for our batties. Tolga is an awesome place in Far North Queensland, which has charity status. By sending donations to them, they get a percentage (and deserve every cent) and they can allocate money to me for batty expenses without it becoming part of my income stream (which makes tax time difficult). https://tolgabathospital.org/donate/ Mention Megabattie or Meg in the PayPal message box and the money will find its way to me. If no message box appears, please email Jenny to tell her that the money is for me. IMPORTANT: If you pay through the PayPal Giving Fund, can you please email Jenny with the AMOUNT DONATED and the name under which you have donated, OR just forward along the PP receipt. The Giving Fund doesn’t charge any fees (so the bats get more money) but PP doesn’t itemise out the amount, they just send a total every month, and we don’t know if the money is for Tolga or for Megabattie. Here’s Jenny’s email. jenny@tolgabathospital.org
