This video documents one of the most intense and memorable 4x4 journeys I’ve ever attempted - across the fierce, golden sand dunes of Jaisalmer. Date: 9th - 13th December 2023 It all began early morning on 9th December, as I rolled out of North Delhi in my Mahindra Scorpio N Z8L Diesel MT 4x4 - a capable body-on-frame SUV known for its low-end torque and mechanical 4WD system, well-suited for controlled climbs and dune transitions. Near the Gurugram toll, I met my friend Vinit, driving his Ford Endeavour 2.0 BS6, a vehicle admired for its smooth 10-speed gearbox and excellent stability on long highway stretches. Matching pace and energy, we cruised nearly 600 km to Jodhpur, stopping only for fuel, breakfast, and some 360° shots on the Insta360. Jodhpur marked the start of our official 4-5 day desert expedition. At the hotel, our convoy assembled - Toyota Hilux (lead car), Ford Endeavour 3.2, Isuzu V-Cross & Pickups, Mahindra Thar, Suzuki Jimny, Jeep Compass 4x4, and more. Watching these machines get stickered, lined up, and introduced felt like gearing up for a real expedition. 10th December: We left for Sam, Jaisalmer, covering roughly 320 km through wide open roads and windmill landscapes. By evening, we were already on the public dunes. Sand off-roading is never forgiving - vehicles got beached, drivelines struggled, but with winches and recovery boards, we learned teamwork quickly. We returned to the resort under a dark desert sky, welcomed by local music and dance. The following day, we shifted to private dunes - far deeper, steeper, and untouched. This is where the real test began. Sharp ascents, long crest runs, sudden drops… I captured some stunning Insta360 footage as the sun set behind endless sand ridges. Next came Ranao, en route to Tanot Mata - a region known for unpredictable dunes and sudden vertical drops. We tackled 50-100 ft dune falls, where longer wheelbase vehicles struggled to break over the edge. My Scorpio N needed a push, but we all made it down eventually. However, the challenge came with a cost - my radiator took a severe hit due to the low approach angle and constant dune impacts. The engine began overheating, forcing me to stop repeatedly, refill water every few kilometers, and even blast the cabin heater at full power to dissipate heat. Yet we still had nearly 170 km to cover, including the deserted Tanot route, where stones disguised under branches made the night drive risky. But slow, careful driving brought us back safely. Next morning, a local mechanic opened the radiator and did a temporary fix - surprisingly still functioning today. By 3 PM we began our return journey, driving through the night and reaching Delhi by 8 AM. This expedition was organised by @DCVExpeditions . It wasn’t just about off-roading - it was about endurance, machine capability, teamwork, and the spirit of adventure. Join me in this video as we relive every climb, drop, failure, recovery - and victory - across the mighty Thar Desert. #ScorpioN #MahindraScorpioN #ScorpioN4x4 #4x4OffRoad #DesertOffroading #Jaisalmer #SamSandDunes #OffRoadAdventure #TharDesert #SandDuneDriving #Insta360Footage #FordEndeavour #OffRoadConvoy #Hilux4x4 #OverlandingIndia #SUVAdventure #ExtremeOffRoad #RoadTripIndia #TanotMata #Sand #Desert #Rajasthan #2023 #Expedition #Cars #Travel #Travelling #MotorSports #Adventure Music Used ## Action Teaser - Stringer Bell Garage - Topher Mohr and Alex Elena • Garage – Topher Mohr and Alex Elena (No Co...
