Crossing Barrackpore, we paused for a moment of nostalgia — remembering Mangal Pandey and his historic revolt that ignited India’s freedom struggle. With our toddler excited for a new day and our Labrador peeking out the window, we moved steadily toward North Bengal. The highway opened beautifully as we crossed Farakka, followed by the vibrant stretches of Malda, Raiganj, Dalkhola, and Kishanganj — a mix of busy town vibes, endless fields, and long peaceful runs.
