To create an alignment using an existing linestring, begin by selecting the polyline on the plan road centerline. Navigate to the corridor tab and initiate the Create Alignment command. You will be prompted to enter a name; for example, type 'Cobalt' to name the road 'Cobalt Ave.' You can assign it to a layer, such as the same layer as the existing object, by clicking on the line, which will create an object called 'C-Plan Road Centerline.' The alignment can be defined using various geometry definitions, such as inscribing curves at PIs, defining individual segments, or utilizing an existing linestring. By selecting the command, the existing CAD polyline is chosen, and upon confirmation, a horizontal alignment is created with all the curve, arc, and line geometry. The stationing begins at zero, but it can be adjusted to start at a different value, like 10 or 1000, by entering the desired starting point and tabbing through, which recalculates the stationing along the alignment. Additional alignments can be created by using the Create Alignment command again, which returns to the initial command interface.
