Birmingham's new Mayor, Randall Woodfin, will take office Tuesday, November 28. He is the youngest mayor in the city's history, and this week sat down with AL.com's Roy S. Johnson to talk about his plans for the city going forward. Woodfin also discusses Alabama's upcoming special election to fill the state's empty U.S. Senate seat, vacated by Jeff Sessions earlier this year. Woodifn has endorsed Democratic nominee Doug Jones, but says Jones has a tall task ahead of him to close the gap with Republican nominee and former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore. Among Woodfin's priorities for the city of Birmingham are infrastructure, communication and collaboration with the City Council and other parts of the city government.
