Get pulling! Himalayan Balsam control during June - early July

A special thanks to our resident Simeon Linstead for capturing this video. Our Biodiversity Officer, Elliot Newton describes the most effective method of controlling Himalayan Balsam. It is an attractive but problematic plant - an invasive species that can dominate our green spaces. The most effective method of controlling it is by pulling it out - watch the video to see the preferred technique and remember, it’s important to time your Himalayan Balsam control so you don’t inadvertently spread more seeds - the best time to pull the plants is between June and early July, before the seeds have matured.
