Welcome to Staithes Arts Festival 2025 — or as Clarissa Harwood (our resident posh historian) insists, “a jewel in Yorkshire’s cultural crown.” Staithes is a coastal village with a proud fishing past and a deep connection to the arts, once home to the famed Staithes Group of painters. Today, cottages are transformed into makeshift salons and studios, hosting exhibitions, light shows, and cultural events. Clarissa will tell you it’s all rather magical. Meanwhile, Gary Bender has other ideas. He sees less Cannes Film Festival, more crab pots and traybakes.
