Trinity League Tournament - Championship Game The first time this season St John Bosco and Santa Margarita met it was a Trinity League classic that took double overtime to decide a winner. The Braves came out victorious that night. The senior led Santa Margarita squad was looking forward to a rematch and the stars aligned for a showdown with the Trinity League Championship at stake. Brayden Kyman started the game with the hot hand for the Eagles knocking down three 3-pointers in the first quarter. Newly selected McDonald's All-American Christian Collins did one better. Collins carried his team on his back scoring 15 of the Braves 23 first quarter points as they led 23-16 at the end of the 1st quarter. Oregon State commit Drew Anderson went on a tear in the 2nd quarter scoring 10 points for Santa Margarita. Collins poured in 8 more points and had 23 at the half as the Braves held a slight lead 33-32. Both teams were trading buckets in the 3rd quarter. Santa Margarita went to a zone defense that slowed the game down and the Braves scoring. After 3 complete St John Bosco still maintained a 4 point lead 46-42. With 3:25 remaining in the game Gavin Dean Moss connected on a three from the wing to put the Braves in front 56-52. The Braves would be held scoreless for the remainder of the ballgame. with 1 minute remaining and down 1 point, Markee White put the Eagles up 57-56 and in control. It would come down to the final 1.5 seconds. The Braves had the ball under their own basket. Moss found Max Ellis in the middle of the key but his fade-away jumper was off the mark as Santa Margarita survived. The Eagles celebrated a 57-56 victory to win back to back Trinity League Titles. Christian Collins led all scorers with 32 points. Drew Anderson led Santa Margarita with 24 points. Both teams ranked in the top 5 of the CIF Southern Section Computer ratings are headed to the open division. The playoff rankings and pool selections come out Saturday afternoon.
