I am trying to follow the instructions (as closely as possible, but with most of the edges finished with serging) for this 1960 dress. For the zip, it says, “Follow the instructions that come with the zipper.” Luckily for me, the zipper I bought to match the fabric of this dress is from 1963, so it has great instructions!
