Year in Review 2022 | UK Steam Trains Compilation on the Mainline and Heritage Railways

Well this year’s been a ride! In many ways this year has been brilliant, some of the performances we’ve seen have been glowing, notably for me my first time seeing 35018 British India Line was quite a spectacle over the S&C. I’ve been all over the country too, from the Midlands as far NE as Durham, as far NW as Carlisle, as far SE as London and as far SW as Newton Abbot - all from my base in the Midlands! It’s also been great to have some locomotives back, like 34067 Tangmere and 4930 Hagley Hall. However the year also saw some disappointment, that being the steam bans over the summer which very much marred the Shakespeare Express season, as well as train strikes meaning a few of my plans weren’t doable; cancelling tours and the trains I use to chase them. It has also been a shame (and I am not blaming anyone here lol!) that 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe and 6024 King Edward I haven’t yet returned to the rails as they were projected to this year. Add to the above that this year has been challenging for me personally, and we’ve got a very mixed bag indeed! But enough of this, I’ve been very pleased with some of my shots this year and that’s what the video is all about, so ranging all over the country with a vast range of locomotives in all different settings at all different speeds, here we have my favourite shots of UK Steam Locomotives in action! So just before I “sign off” for the year (although my Channel Trailer will be coming on Dec 31st), I’d like to thank all my subscribers (489 at the time of writing), all my viewers, all the people who have talked to and befriended me this year, all the tour operators, all the people who served me at the Fish and Chips shops I visited, and finally to “Friend Cam”, “Dad Cam”, ‪@LiamsLocos‬, ‪@WestCountrySteamVideos‬ and ‪@blackcountrysteamvideos8021‬ for the footage and friendship I have gained from their generosity this year. Next year looks to be quite a good one: hopefully we will witness the return of 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe, 71000 Duke of Gloucester and 6024 King Edward I, as well as it being the centenary of the Grouping in 1923, the design of the Castle Class, and Flying Scotsman's creation!
