Helldiver Cadet KodeX Journal Day 8 Day 8 on the SES Halo of the Stars, Omicron is done, so onto the bots! We have to hold three planets until the end of the major order, on taking a look at the war table, K is one of those three, but it looks like the attack on K is coming from Choepessa IV (hard CH apparently, learn something new everyday), so I drop there instead. Difficulty 4's as usual. The first mission is to sabotage supply bases in an automaton held city. Dropping down into the city, and decide to run for the bio processors first. Running round the corner, right into a bot drop! So fight my way away from them and continue onward. Until I hear the old call of "Warning, you're in range of enemy artillery". Not looking forward to hearing that 900 more times, I book it over to the emplacement and remove it with a nice big laser.... right before getting gunned down by one of the Seaf soldiers present on the planet sigh that bitch will pay. On return to the surface, I find the soldier who killed me, and proceed to old yeller him with the senator - democracy demands justice for those who would injure a Helldiver. I might lose some requisitions for that, but it feels justified. Reaching the processors, I immediately call down a hellbomb, I didn't feel great about the placement of that hellbomb, and it turns out I was right, it was too far away from the third processor, instead, I finish off the final processor with the liberator, therefore completing my second secondary objective. I was hoping the ammunition stockpile was next to face the axe of democracy, but it was in fact the fuel silos instead. The plan was to call down a hellbomb and do the work, but of course, they're being jammed... stratagem jammer. of course there's a stratagem jammer right next to the objective... oh well, guess I do need secondary objectives, either bots are easier than I remember, or I'm better at bots than I thought I was. The stratagem jammer goes down pretty easily, even with two heavy devastators protecting it. Although I will admit I had some real troubles finding the terminal. BACK TO THE ACTUAL OBJECTIVE! I call down the hellbomb where I think it's perfectly between the two towers, which as it turns out was the wrong location, as it was too far from either to provide the necessary destructive force. I get back up there, and this time do it right. Placing the marker right at the base of the fuel silo, then following up with the same treatment on the second. With both of those done, I do the ammunition stockpile by just dropping a giant laser on it, saves a lot of mess, and means I can run for extract quicker. I run out of stims, and end up taking a mortal wound that causes me to bleed out... right on the steps up to extract. KodeX's notes: When a Helldiver is on the surface of the planet, that entire planet becomes the Helldivers' jurisdiction, the Helldiver becomes Judge, Jury, and Executioner. The second mission was going to be a blitz search and destroy, but to the best of my knowledge, there are no secondary objectives on blitz missions, and even if there, the timer isn't long enough to realistically allow for it solo. So instead, I take up a non-city launch ICBM mission, a bit of (mostly) fresh air never hurt anyone after all. Honestly, there's not a hell of a lot to report here, again, either I'm far better at bots than I remember, or they have just gotten easier... might be something to do with the very low resistance rate, we'll try another planet tomorrow and find out. My secondary objective completion comes from another stratagem jammer, where I did get eliminated by getting stuck on terrain while there was a heavy devastator pointing his gun at me. In the distance I saw some aerial guns shooting into space, and recognising this as an anti-air emplacement, call in a resupply, so I can go crazy on the vents with some impact grenades, just leaving the bio-processors, on the way I do run into a contact mine that I literally could not see (I've checked), bio processors go down in one airstrike though, so the spent life is worth it. After mucking about this much, I decide it's probably time to do the actual objective of the map? Namely? The ICBM codes, which are being guarded by a hulk with a flamethrower. While I would have loved to stand and poke more holes in it, some berserkers had chased me from an earlier base, so I had to temporarily move away, it's ok though, because the rest of the match is literally a walk in a lightly toaster infected park, grab the codes, run to the ICBM, and launch it with no issues, I even aggro a hulk on a nearby outpost to make things a bit more interesting, and for a flex, hip fire my railgun into the lone remaining devastator, desperately trying to stop me. Take a nice jaunt over to extract, and that's the game! KodeX's notes: Definitely going to try a higher resistance rate tomorrow. Literally nothing matters so long as I retain my 100% mission completion rate.
