It is long but not too long and does not have a lot of drag in the water, it feels light when you work it even with a softish rod. The Kamaitachi from Gamakatsu is one of my favorite jigs for a lot of reasons - you can't really use it if you don't know how to set your drag - is probably on the top of the list. In my opinion, this hook is where slow jigging - the right way of doing it - becomes apparent from the not so right way of doing it. The barbless nature of his hook already pushes away a lot of people - but the truth of the matter is - this hook is probably the most "sharpshooter" hook there is - it hooks fish so well, but if you don't have your drags set right, you tend to lose all these fish. Slow jigging isn't a locked drag and reel like hell sort of thing - it is finesse.
