I don't think I've ever recovered so much HP in a single turn without using Smooch or Items within said turn... CantWin is a File Code in Dark Star Edition that sets you to level 27, gives you all 128 badges, and the 5 unlockable stones immediately (all but Greed, Badge, and Rainbow). However, in return, it forces all encounters to be at least 4.5x difficulty, the equivalent of Super + Mega Curse. Equipping Curse badges does NOT stack with this multiplier, but if you equip Ultra + Mega Curse or all 3 Curses, you will do a fight on that respective difficulty instead of the innate 4.5x difficulty that CantWin forces. Tubba Blubba EX has 80 Base HP, scaling up to 720, and has 0 Defense. The base attack values of his attacks are as follows: Pound: 8 (72) Throw: 14; this attack is unblockable (99) Stomp: 6+6; this inflicts Shrink if either hit is not guarded (54+54) Earthquake: 10; this also hits grounded partners with a base damage value of 4 (90 and 36 respectively) This fight is based on Tubba's rematch fight in Forever Forest, so abilities that Tubba had there are what apply here. The first 2 times you bring his HP to 0, Tubba will get HP back equal to his Base HP (80). This recovery DOES scale up with Curses, but thanks to Spaghetti Code™, he won't get more than 99 HP back. That said, this does mean you have to bring Tubba's HP to 0 a total of 3 times to fully KO him. Due to these HP Recoveries though, Tubba EX effectively has 918 HP to get through. In addition, Tubba also gains additional actions when his HP is brought to 0. After the first time, he'll have 2 actions; and after the second time, he'll have 3 actions. It's starting in Phase 2 when he gains access to Earthquake, but that's because it takes up 2 actions for him to use it. The change that was given to Tubba Blubba EX between his rematch fight in Forever Forest and this fight is that he now gets +2 Attack after his HP is brought to 0 the first 2 times. Unlike the standard curse file, access to the Mega Bounce Exploit means that I can very easily keep up with Tubba's damage output. But with that said, I did want to make things a little more interesting here. As a result, I decided to take a page out of Huff's book and impose a "damage cap" on a single use of Mega Bounce as opposed to a bounce cap. The damage cap I imposed was 35 damage per Mega Bounce. I wanted to strike a balance between damage and item use, and that was the number I came up with. The question that I then needed to consider was how to keep Tubba's damage in check? That answer is with a combination of HP Drain and Crazy Heart. We've seen this combo in fights that use the Immortal Build, but not with Mega Bounce as the attacking move. Here however, it's crucial because the Stomp attack hits twice. With both hits guarded and the fractional reductions active (Perfect Stand, Dark Shield, and Cloud Nine), it deals 36 damage. By winding up a Hustle Spell in the prior turn and having active Dark Shroom Cake regen, we can get back to full HP with 2 Mega Bounces as long as Crazy Heart regen is active that turn! And if Crazy Heart regen isn't active, we can offset the damage instead by either Super Guarding or using Rejuvenate. So, the badge build - Mega Bounce + Dodge Master for attacking obviously. Crazy Heart to recover 3 HP back every 2 turns. P-Up D-Down to get +1 Attack to offset the loss from HP Drain. Perfect Stand and Dark Shield for fractional reduction badges, and Feeling Fine to prevent being Shrunk. Pity Flower gives great FP Recovery for taking damage, but with the damage level I aimed for, you could likely use Dark Power instead. Finally, Stellar Nova ensures Dark Shield stays active. For items, 4 Dark Shroom Cakes and 1 Golden Shroom Cake for consistent regen. 5 Yoshi Biscuits boost the potency of said cakes as well. The Miracle Golden and the Life Shroom give emergency hits of insurance for Phases 2 and 3, when Tubba is able to attack multiple times per turn. Finally, 4 Hustle Drinks and 4 Boo Leaves give Hustle and damage avoidance in those 2 phases. Double Dip ensures 2 items can be used at once. For partners, Lakilester for Cloud Nine Support; Buzzatrice for Hustle Spell usage and emergency Rejuvenation recovery where needed. Bow is used for more attack dodging later on, and Fan Smack for Phase 1 to output 10 additional damage against Tubba. Quick Change ensures that I can swap between them freely.
