A fresh and direct transfer and remaster of Mikes original master Super 8 film from this local club show with an audience of 200. EC had just returned from his guest appearance in Atlanta with Rolling Stones and John Lee Hooker - and is red hot. Mike’s notes: Before Eric began playing at Woking on New Year's Eve on a regular basis, he used to sit in occasionally with The No Stiletto Shoes Band at a small venue a few miles south of Guildford. The band itself comprised of ex-band members Gary Brooker and Henry Spinetti and future band members Andy F-Low and Dave Bronze plus Frank Mead on sax. They all lived locally and would get together initially for a couple of nights every Xmas plus the occasional Charity gig further afield. The venue itself was a small 200 capacity club called the Chiddingfold Ex-Service Men's Club. It was primarily a cheap drinking place but also it was used by local bands such as Genesis, to rehearse for upcoming tours. I started going every year, as this small village is just over 10 miles from his house in Ewhurst and I figured it was only a matter of time before Eric would turn up. He had played with them at Dunsfold Village Hall the previous year and I had missed that. This particular Christmas I turned up with the intention of taping it should Eric appear. I got talking to another local, a friend of the band, who had a video camera and wanted someone to capture the whole event as he knew Eric would be appearing. Did he ever choose the right man! It was a truly wonderful show with the whole band and Eric being in top form. Songs came and went in a blur-and none of them had anything in common with his then touring set-list, but his solos on 'Big Black Cadillac', 'Bright Lights Big City', 'Hit the Road Jack' & 'Gin House' amongst many, were out-standing. My only slight annoyance was from where I was standing, one of those noise activated dancing flowers was in my sight line. But you get used to it after a while. I both filmed the show, taped it on my trusty Sony D6 and even took a few photos. The video cameras battery finally died just before the encore, so you have the audio only of that one, 'Little Queenie'. A truly one-off show as I saw him play with the same band another 3 times at the same venue, but he only sat in for a handful of songs each time. On Mike's request the video has ben encoded with a watermark/logo, making life for people with commercial interests in the video, as hard as possible.
