Just Coz I'm Mad (instru-mental) Arranged, played and recorded by Mike Disney Original Song by Bob Brand, Mike Disney & Adam Pendse Recorded and mixed on Akai MPC Live 2 hardware directly. The photo shows (l to r) Adam P, Vanessa, Bob B, Fiona, Andy and me and was taken in a petrol station forecourt in Swiss Cottage, after a mysteriously cancelled gig in a pub there. October 2024 It was the late 80's and I played in a band called The Roosters, (latterly calling ourselves "Roosthouse"). The band formed out of a previous band I was in - "the Mess", who were wildly popular. We were fronted by a charismatic singer called Bob, who lived just down the road from me. He was able to charm any audience, as we ploughed through old Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry and other assorted rock 'n' roll numbers. But ultimately we both decided to start a power funk outfit with Adam on guitar, who also lived just down the same road as Bob. This we called the Roosters, on account of Bob's "Foghorn Leghorn" impersonations. We got a few originals together (including the featured track "Just Coz I'm Mad"), played a few "power funk rock" covers, grabbed some backing singers and a drummer and we were off - fortunately with the large audiences from the Mess still sticking around. The band had great potential and played quite a few gigs to great receptions, including Middlesex University several times, and the Canarvan and Dublin Castles in Camden and of course at the LMS in Hendon, since it too was only down the road. We even had the dodgiest record deal imaginable to help destroy the band along the way. These were riotous times though, and I feel our hearts were all in other things. There was a lot going on for us all in those days outside of this project. We were all having such easy laughs with this band that we didn't really take it too seriously and things couldn't last.
