Solving the Global Human Matching Problem with AI -Sonny Uppal CEO & co-founder Genesys Technologies

Most of us keep meeting people who are not a good fit, even though we have more apps and tools than ever. 🧵 In this episode of my startup podcast, I spoke with Sonny Uppal, founder of Genesys Technologies and former quant trading strategist who is now using AI to help people find better fitting relationships, collaborators and support, instead of leaving everything to chance. As a teenager, Sonny was already building on the internet. He created a gaming website that grew into Gaming World X, an online publication with a 10 to 15 person volunteer team and ad revenue in the thousands per year. For someone who was still in school teaching himself to code, leading a team like that at age twelve made it a remarkably serious project. He studied computer science and business at Carnegie Mellon University, finished one year early, and spent time at Google working on health related products. That experience confirmed he preferred fast moving, founder led environments over large organizations. He later worked in quantitative trading at firms such as Citadel, Tradeworx and Bolt Trading, designing high speed trading algorithms in extremely competitive markets. Some exceptionally strong years in the field earned him meaningful seven figure income, and over time he automated his own long term trading systems to the point where they require only light oversight. In parallel he went deep into social psychology and Vipassana meditation, using both data and introspection to study how people think, react and build relationships. Today he brings that mix of algorithmic thinking and behavioral insight to Genesys Technologies, where he is building Laguna and Vibescape, a broader psychosocial search engine for matching people across romance, cofounders, therapists, mentors and gaming squads.
