Enhancements: 1080p Emulator Used: BigPEmu Machine: Atari Jaguar CD Developer: Attention to Detail Limited Publisher: Atari Played: Completed Training and Pacific Missions. Then I completely blew all my lives away in the Canyon stage in the USA mission. Thoughts: Blue Lighting is the successor to Blue Lighting on the Atari Lynx which is a pretty fun game by the way. The Atari Jaguar CD version takes it to the next level by adding cutscenes, a rock soundtrack, and better graphics that are sort of reminiscent of After Burner II or Galaxy Force II. You play the role of a new recruit for the UN's Blue Lightning squad who goes through training and then goes on several campaigns to stop General Drako who is spreading terror. At the End you are the top fighting pilot for the UN's Blue Lightning squad. The gameplay for Blue Lighting is much like the first game for the Atari Lynx only with more added features. You can select fighter craft including bombing craft in this one and can get new aircraft depending on score. This sort of reminds me of Namco's Air Combat on the Playstation. Although in Air Combat you could buy aircraft. You can lose a plane to. If you lose all of them it's game over like Air Combat. As for gameplay it is a lot like the Atari Lynx version only there are more obstacles to avoid and you can drop bombs. You can save your progress to a memory track cartridge. Ever campaign seems to have four missions in total. I recommend checking out this game as it is a lot of fun. It reminds me of Air Combat and Afterburner II. So if your a fan of those Blue Lighting might be worth a look. I really advise emulation for this one as Jaguar CDs are expensive, rare, and can be really prone to failure.
