Moira to Portmore Lough (October 2022) 12 Mile Hike

There had been reports of Marsh Harriers and Hen Harriers at Portmore Lough, on and off, but increasingly over the past few years. Portmore is beside Lough Neagh, and almost looks from above like it was formed by a meteor strike. I didn't go with the expectation of seeing the Harriers, but it was as good an excuse as any to venture out in that direction, and to narrow down the options that can sometimes cause me choice paralysis. The country roads were quite dangerous to walk on, and had to keep my wits about me, as large articulated lorries would speed past quite regularly, and there were no pavements. One of the highlights, was when I spontaneously decided to get a bus to Lurgan, and the bus driver was a total legend. I was the only person on the bus, because the driver had actually been making a detour, due to a road accident, and just happened to be passing by.
