Imperfect reflections: Using Artificial Intelligent systems to model non-human alien intelligences Mark Boccuzzi The Windbridge Institute Introduction: Over the past several years, interest in the study of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) has seen explosive growth. While the main focus of these studies currently centers on sightings and interactions with various types of crafts observed by military assets, these encounters are only a small portion of the experiences attributed to extraterrestrial-related phenomena over the years. Previously termed unidentified flying objects (UFOs), the aerial phenomena along with a range of encounter experiences, including direct interaction and communication with non-human alien intelligences (NHAI), abductions, and mysterious animal deaths, to name but a few, are of interest to the field of UFOlogy. However, our understanding the how NHAIs perceive and interact with our world is still unknown. This exploratory project hypothesizes that NHAIs may not only lack a comprehensive understanding of human culture and morals but also that the very way they perceive reality, including their experiences of space-time, may be radically different from that of humans. These differences could have a significant impact on how NHAIs understand and ultimately choose to interact with us. This project considers these questions through the study of evolving artificial intelligence (AI) tools. While these tools are developed by humans and trained with human-generated data, they are imperfect reflections of their human creators. Many of these systems are prone to ‘hallucinations’, which are expressed through text and generated images, thus making AIs a type of external entity which observes and responds, in its own way, to human interactions. These hallucinatory anomalous processes expressed by AIs may provide a window into the perceptual and cognitive processes of an intelligence that is observing us but has yet to fully understand us. Methods: Through a series of sessions with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and several text-to-image systems, the history of UFO/UAP encounters as well as how NHAIs might view the human condition, human interactions with each other, the environment, and other species was explored. Additionally, the possible techniques and technologies NHAIs could use to initiate contact and communicate with humans was examined. While many types of UAP/UFO interactions were explored with the AIs, this presentation focuses on mysterious animal deaths (MADs) associated with UAP/UFO encounters. MADs have been observed and documented for decades, with thousands of cases reported worldwide. These events involve the unexplained and often gruesome deaths of animals, including cows, sheep, and horses. While various theories have been put forth to explain the phenomenon, ranging from natural causes to human actions, many of these cases remain unexplained. Results: The result of this project is a collection of AI-generated conversations and images that probe how an external intelligence considers life on Earth and the meaning of human life. Implications / Discussion: The study of UAPs, UFOs, and NHAI perception and communication are important and timely topics of study. By utilizing evolving AI tools and studying these phenomena, researchers may be able to shed light on the nature of NHAI interactions, ultimately paving the way for more effective communication and collaboration between humans and non-human entities.
