State leaders honor Shiocton Elementary as Blue Ribbon School

Shiocton Elementary School is being formally recognized as a Blue Ribbon School. Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction superintendent Jill Underly visited the school Wednesday in honor of the award. Blue Ribbon Schools was a longstanding program of the U.S. Department of Education. It was abruptly ended last year, but Wisconsin education officials decided to continue to honor the Wisconsin schools that had been nominated. In addition to Shiocton Elementary, T.J. Walker Middle School in Sturgeon Bay and Crivitz High School were also honored.
