All the action from the first day of this years Swanage Railway Diesel Gala & Beer Festival which this year featured: West Coast Railway Company Class 37 37706 Class 20 20066 Class 45 45108 Colas Class 56 56090 Class 50 50008 ‘Thunderer’ GB Railfreight Class 69 69007. ‘Richard Trevithick’ GB Railfreight Class 73 73128 ‘Kent & East Sussex Railway’ Class 47 47715 ‘Rail Engineering Solutions, Quality Assured’ Resident Class 33 D6515 ‘Lt. Jenny Lewis RN’ Class 423 4VEP 3417 ‘Gordon Pettit’ Having seen a convoy of locos heading here in the week through Didcot    • 66117 + 60103 FLYING SCOTSMAN arrive at DI...   we begin at Nordon, awaiting the first train of today, with 37706, and some interesting diesel crane demonstrations prior to the train arriving. We boarded and got underway, however no sooner than our 37 hauled train had left Norden, we ground to a halt outside Corfe Castle, and after some confusion, the guard informed us 37706 has suffered a brake fault and was being held at Corfe, where the Peak and the 47 would run down and the 47 would run back and overtake it to form the next train up to Swanage, with the hope of getting the 37 brakes working again…. Let the fun commence 🍻 We arrive at Swanage behind the 47 and see the first departures, and with the brake issues sorted, the late running WCRC 37 rolled in, but word then started going round that the Colas 56 had failed down at Norden, confirmed initially by the railways own social media accounts! Thankfully this fault was quickly repaired and the 56 swapped diagrams with the GBRF 69, so we later see the delayed Grid triumphantly arriving back at Swanage with the 4 VEP unit, and enjoy action from along the line as the trains continue to run throughout the afternoon to a later timetable, while the beers flow and the diesels bask in even more great weather! | 09.05.2025 I hope you enjoy this video and thank you for watching!
