A dog's life. Introducing some of the main characters from furball central - Kala (the gsd) and Kai (the little caramel latte mix). I got Kala as part of my management system for my mental health (MDD and PTSD). Properly trained service dogs take years to train and cost in the vicinity of $50k or more. I spent a couple of years looking for Kala throughout New Zealand as I was looking for a therapy-type dog. Kai was an unexpected adoption but when I approached him, the bond was instant - much the same with Kala. Kai is very protective, loyal and intelligent. I admire the way he can read people and situations. He is definitely able to distinguish between a threat and non-threat. Kai actually turned out to have more traits of a therapy dog that I was wanting than Kala haha This day, pups let loose around almost three stretches of bays and beach - having it to themselves. Then, they saw a flock of seagulls and decided to chase after them, almost to the next bay over haha My dogs are an active part of managing my mental health and I am extremely grateful to have them with me.
