This Gondola was built in 1999 as part of the Deer Crest Expansion southward where its sister Deer Crest (now Mountaineer Express) was built 2 years earlier. This is a rare gondola built by Garaventa CTEC, but unlike the other Gondolas built by G-CTEC, this one features Gangloff Cabins, used on other Doppelmayr installs like the Needles and Strawberry Gondolas at Snowbasin an hour north. This Gondola is located a short distance away from its namesake, Jordanelle Reservoir and is accessible to parking via US-40. There is only one run, Jordanelle, which is advanced-intermediate and is one of my favorites at Deer Valley and provides expansive views of the Reservoir and the nearby community of Mayflower. However, that doesn't mean Jordanelle is only for those types of skiers, as it allows for downloading for anybody. Jordanelle has automated parking in the bottom terminal. This lift is arguably one of Deer Valley's best classics and I know it's not gonna go anywhere for a good while. NOTE: Until Next Season, the sole way to get to Jordanelle is via the Mountaineer Express and taking the Jordanelle Run, or downloading it, or even park at the lot next to the bottom terminal building. Next Season, there will be a new intermediate trail from the top of the Pioche Express (seen at 1:24) as part of Expanded Excellence that will provide access to the gondola, although there will not likely be trails going from the gondola to the new terrain as a lot of the trails in the Jordanelle Zone are private.
