We reached the Reichenbachfallbahn funicular just outside of Meiringen after walking from the Aare Gorge in steady, pouring rain. By the time we arrived, the rain had eased just enough to let the valley breathe — mist hanging low, the town slowly falling away below, and a quiet, mysterious energy settling in as the ascent began. This 6-minute video captures the full funicular ascent on the historic Reichenbachfallbahn, traveling from the lower station (Talstation) near Meiringen to the upper station at Willigen. The camera faces the valley and city below for the entire journey as the funicular climbs toward the Reichenbach Falls area. As we rise, rooftops, forests, and winding roads of Meiringen and the surrounding Haslital (Hasli Valley) gradually shrink beneath the mist, creating a calm, meditative perspective of the landscape. The ambient soundtrack is an original composition by Ryan Gerald, created to complement the slow ascent and shifting atmosphere of the valley.
