Visualizing the Fretboard Part 1: • Visualizing The Fretboard Part 1 ........................................................................................................... In this video, I continue to develop a helpful perspective on what you see when looking at your fretboard. But in part two I introduce another chord into the mix. Now we are moving between the Dm7 chord and an Am7 chord (both in the key of C Major). With the key of C Major as a backdrop in your mind, you are able to nicely transition from Dm7 to Am7 using the available C major notes to create licks, riffs or lines...something many guitarists are interested in learning. Now the mystery is removed! A nice analogy I use is to imagine the two chords as ISLANDS in the OCEAN of C major. Your job is to get from one island to another without capsizing in the ocean. In others words, you want to be confident you can get from one chord to another chord (buy creating a lick or riff or line) with confidence that you are choosing the right notes.
