In this lecture we review the topic of Interpersonal Aggression. Defining aggression is difficult in part because the word is used to describe many different things. Aggression is basically any physical or verbal behavior that is intended to harm another person or persons (Greenberg, 2018). This definition implies that an aggressive act may be intended to cause physical harm or psychological harm. The term violence applies to acts of aggression with more severe or lasting consequences. We will also review the causes and interventions of aggression; situational triggers of aggression; gender differences; and ways to reduce aggression.
