Composed by Michael Giacchino (The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up, The Batman, Zootopia), arranged for brass quintet by E.K.R. Hammell. A solo trumpet opens with a maestoso presentation of the theme, over a timpani-like tuba & trombone pedal point, then joined by the ensemble. This is followed by a sweet and innocent version of the theme, played by the trombone, with a countermelody in the tuba and an accompaniment motif bouncing gently around the ensemble, mimicking the reverby synths and choir of the original. Then, the ensemble builds intensity and tempo over an increasingly insistent pedal point in the tuba. The penultimate section, re-imagining the original’s synth arppeggiations and soaring choir, then grows from quietly busy, interlocking syncopations throughout the ensemble into a final climactic fanfare presentation of the theme. At a moderate-advanced difficulty, showcasing every instrument in the ensemble, this 60’s action sci-fi throwback brass arrangement is particularly well suited for pops concerts, and film music concerts, potentially as a bombastic and showy opening fanfare, for audiences young and old.
