Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE! Thanks!! This Target Transition drill is an outstanding drill as it is simple to setup and truly challenges you to conducting target transitions well and under control. The drill has you doing target transition through a full 90 degree angle. The key learning point is learning to execute a 90 degree and greater transition or line switch using an excellent technique. Drawing your gun in towards your body, turning your body slightly towards the target and pushing out onto the target which requires a 90 degree and greater line switch is extremely effective and efficient. If you don’t understand why you should use this technique for a 90 degree or greater transition, try the following. Keep you arms extended and swing the gun a full 90 degree onto another target. Can you stop on time and have you sights alignment perfectly with no correction required before you can engage the target. I doubt it. The gun is moving too fast when making such a wide swing / transition compared to the technique of drawing the gun into your body, keeping the gun relatively high, turn you body slightly towards the target while placing the front sight on the target and then pushing out the gun onto the target. This transition technique is fast, efficient and highly effective at ensuring a fast smooth transition with the fastest possible engagement of the target requiring a 90 degree or greater line switch / transition. I produced two earlier videos on this drill. Although not an absolute requirement to understand this drill, I do encourage you to watch both those videos. This drill is not a Speed Shooting drill and your goal should be to shoot nothing but Alphas and to never hit the No Shoot target (the start target). Sure you can hit a few Charlies but you really don’t want to ee any Deltas! The start target is 7 yards away, the second target is downrange in line with the start target at 10 yards from the shooting box, the third target is 15 yards and the 4th target is 15 yards away and is 90 degrees to the start target in regards to transition angle. The drill is normally setup with IPSC paper targets but as I did, you can use steel targets as well every once in a while justto change up the drill. The steel targets give you instant feedback to whether you hit or not. You still need to use IPSC paper targets more often than not. As well, the only holes you need to patch are the Charlies and Deltas. Don’t worry about the Alpha hits and save you patches.
