Kalin Baca is a chemical engineer, entrepreneur, and advocate for sustainable engineering practices, recognized for her leadership in sustainable refrigerant technologies. She is the co-founder and CEO of Icorium Engineering Company, a climate technology startup commercializing advanced refrigerant separations and recycling processes. In 2025, she was honored as a STEMMy Awards Enterprising Innovator and received the Under 30 Entrepreneur Merit Award from the Kansas Department of Commerce. Her work has contributed to over 50 technical presentations, 10 publications, 5 patents, and participation in national programs such as NSF I-Corps, the Rice Business Plan Competition, and DOE Energy Tech Pitch Competition. Under her leadership, Icorium has grown to five full-time employees and has strong support from the National Science Foundation, receiving three grants totaling over $1.5 million to commercialize its technology. The company has also established early commercial contracts, built strong industry partnerships, completed piloting of proprietary technology, and is advancing plans to build the first commercial facility capable of complete refrigerant separation. She has held leadership roles in over a dozen professional and community organizations and speaks annually to students about STEM and entrepreneurship.
