I made a trip out to Denton with my friend Devin to attend the 49th Annual Southeast Old Threshers’ Reunion. We were able to get one shot of the rebuilt U.S. Navy 0-4-0 pulling the park train before it broke down. The 1942 Porter PSI class 0-4-0 had developed issues on the third run of the day and had to be rescued by one of the park’s former US Navy GE 80 Tonners. After getting a push up the hill the #9 was taken off and the Ex USN 65-00310 took over the duties of hauling the train for the rest of the day, and much of the week after. In addition to the railroad, we’ll see the park’s 1916 Type B Erie Steam Shovel and the 1922 Type B Steam Crane in operation. 00:02 The only clip of Handy Dandy 0-4-0 #9 I was able to get with it running unassisted 00:46-3:41 1916 Type B Erie Steam Shovel operation & demonstration. 3:43-5:04 1922 Type B Steam Crane in operation & demonstration 5:05 Ex U.S. Navy GE 80 Tonner #65-00310 leaving the Handy Dandy Railroad’s shops to help the ailing #9. 5:45 Handy Dandy Railroad 0-4-0 #9 getting a helping shove up the hill by Ex USN #65-00310. 7:59 USN #65-00310 now heading up the park train by Reid Plantation.
